The third part of this book is about Elizabeth goes to Indonesia where She went two years ago. This time when she just got there, she had no idea where to go and where to live. Then she found Ketut who gave her a picture that helped her years ago. Then she met a man – Felipe from a party. She realized this man has a soft heart when she getting close to him. They soon fell in love for each other. But Liz still had the terrible specter of her previous marriage that was why she did not accept him veritably by her heart. With time went away by being with this man, she finally cannot cover her love up for him anymore. In the end, they have a life together.

When I read Liz could not accept Felipe because her past, I can totally understand her. Once a person gets hurt from love, she is scared to have the second chance to enjoy love from anybody even though that might have a happy ending. But Liz chose to start a new relationship over again and face her fear with Felipe. Now I believe that she will have a good life because she is strong enough.

Memoir 3 - Eat Pray Love

I am reading the second part of this book that Elizabeth is in India. She is there for getting some peace. She goes to the temple and lives there. All she is doing is to pray and sing the hymn with whole bunch people there. At the beginning, she cannot focus, and she gets frustrated. There is an Indian girl who has been talking to Elizabeth gets married with a guy she did not know before. The girl invites Elizabeth to that wedding. By watching the girl’s wedding, she recalls her wedding with her husband, and she was happy at that time. There is an old man called Richard who is from Taxes. He is here for forgiving himself by losing his family. He told Liz to forgive herself move on with her life. Finally she finds the peace she wants.

Liz and her husband still love each other, but life changed the relationship between them, they had no choice, so they got divorce. She keeps telling herself to move on from the divorce even though it is so hard. I remember there is a scene that she was dancing with her husband by her imagining. She told her husband that if he misses her so misses her, then drop it, but it won’t be long. I think at that time she forgave herself by leaving him, she was telling him to move on too. From that, I can see that she is being stronger to bear everything that happened.

Memoir 2 - Eat Pray Love

This book is about travel and relationships that can be divided into three parts. I am reading the first part when the writer was in Italy. Before she went to Italy, she just got divorced with her husband. She was depressed and her life was a mess. But this story doesn’t start with that terrible situation, it starts with her new life in Italy. Everything seems good at the beginning of this story. She wrote about what she saw and what she had been doing in Italy. Then she started bringing her negative emotion that came from her past experience. She kept thinking about the things that happened in the past even though she decided to keep her life going. For example, she thought about three years ago, she was on the bathroom floor trying to ask for help painfully from God because she didn’t know what to do with her marriage.
The most memorable thing for me in this part is when the writer went to Augustus’s mausoleum, she wrote about how this place looked like, which was chaotic, because it has been adapted, burned and pillaged, then found a way to build itself back up again. She realized that her life has not been so chaotic. Ruin is a gift. Ruin is the road to transformation. I think this scene is important in this story. She learned to accept the past and keep going.

Memoir - Eat Pray Love

The book that I chose is Eat Pray Love. I was interested in this book when I first saw the name of the book. Then I got to know about this book a little bit more.  The writer went to Italy for food, India for belief and in Bali she found her true love. All these happened after her devastating and interminable divorce. She was broken and depressed. She lost her family, home and money. Everybody has his hard time in the life. I am having my hard time now. I don’t want to say what happened on me, but it seems like I lost myself. I have no plans or dreams now and I am not passionate to my life anymore. Even though the writer experienced all those heartrending things, but she chose to keep going and look forward to a new beginning, not just block her in the past. Then she just followed her plans. Finally she got what she wanted. That is what I want to learn from the writer and this book – how to walk out the first step from unhappiness and start a new life.

Writing Memoir

It was sort of difficult when I just started to write my story, because I was not sure which topic that I was going to write, I spent a lot time to decide it. But when I chose a story and went into it, the whole story emerged in my mind like a movie showing. I can even remember all the details.  It was like nobody can stop me writing down the whole thing on my paper, all I wanted was keep going keep writing. I enjoyed sharing my story with other people. However, there was one challenge for me.  I could not describe details of the story even though I can tell in my mind. I think it is because English is my second language, I don’t know enough vocabulary to describe a thing in depth. So that is the problem that I have to face.
